Jacarandas are in bloom, the days are glorious, and the nights are still cool. My sinuses are giving me grief, so you know it’s spring!
This is the season we all start venturing outdoors more for beach walks, lazy park hangs, and wandering through markets filled with fresh local produce. Whether you're sprawled on the grass with your family, catching up with friends over snacks, or flying solo with a good book, spring invites us all out of hibernation.
Spring also brings more colour. In nature, in fashion, and one of my favourites, in jewellery.
Now, I have to confess... when it comes to fashion, my wardrobe leans heavily neutral. A LOT of black, a splash of grey, some tan, and the occasional brave white piece. But my jewellery? That’s where I let my personality shine.
I’m a sucker for a chunky ring. Cocktail ring? More like ‘wear it every day’ ring. Statement earrings? Absolutely. The bolder the better. And a good cuff stack? Always. I especially love seeing older women decked out in their most glamorous pieces. Sometimes in a stunning dress, other times jeans and a tee, and I think to myself, these women get it. Jewellery is powerful.
Turquoise has always held a special place in my heart. I love its variation, from soft sky blues and teals to rich greens streaked with navy, black or earthy browns. Some of my most cherished pieces from other designers are ones I chose because of their gorgeous turquoise stones.
You may notice this influence in the Stoän jewellery I’ve designed so far. I’ve kept the stone choices fairly neutral, black onyx and rainbow moonstone, with turquoise adding that pop of colour.
Midnight Rider in turquoise was the very first design I knew I had to create.
Tango in turquoise was the first earring design I had to bring to life. Big, bold, beautiful. A sharp crescent moon paired with a hand-carved spear-shaped stone. Feminine yet powerful.
Jaws in turquoise was my ‘every day wear design’. The amethyst version was inspired by a friend who described them as “fancy dinner at the beach” earrings and wanted them in purple. So I added a little more colour to the mix.
Whether you're someone who embraces colour head-to-toe in spring or, like me, prefers neutrals with the occasional colour pop, I hope you're expressing your beauty, your way, this spring and every season.
